Well, today I went with our music minsiter Jeremi and the music intern Justin to go rent a cello for the church. Jeremi asked me a couple of months ago if I would be willing to help him find a cello for the church to purchase. We've been looking, and he called me on Friday while I was helping prepare for Kaylyn and Richard's wedding (more on that in a sec) and asked if I would be able to play something in a couple of weeks. It took me by surprise, but I'm really excited. A little nervous about playing in front of the congregation something that I haven't touched in 12 years. I've picked it up and started playing around with it, so we'll see how it goes...I'm really excited because I've wanted to play again, but just haven't had any sort of opportunity - well, now's my chance...I hope I don't let anyone down! hehe
So about the wedding. It went well. Kaylyn was absolutely beautiful, and Richard wept like a baby when she stepped into view at the back of the aisle. I don't think I've ever seen a groom react quite the way he did. It was cool, but I also wanted to give him a hard time about it. The stress leading up to the wedding kind of all came rushing out at that moment. The ceremony was short and sweet, and the reception was done up so nicely. A very simple and elegant wedding. Not too much decoration, but just enough to make it classy.
Gary did a good job reading the scriptures and saying the prayers, and I didn't trip going down the aisle or fumble over any words in the poem that I read. Our bouquets were falling apart up until the ceremony started, but they were very pretty.
I'm just glad it's over and the Sharps are married. I always cry at weddings - even if I don't know the people. I cry at weddings on movies and TV. I'm such a baby. I bawled at our own wedding the ENTIRE time. Ask anyone who was there and look at our pictures. I had a red nose the entire time...but it was the best day of my life. And it hasn't stopped since.
